A practical overview of the structural system, engineering, manufacture, cladding options and project documentation used for InClad steel buildings.
InClad buildings use cold-rolled C-section members within an engineered steel frame. The structural arrangement, member sizes and connection details are determined by the requirements of the individual building rather than a single standard kit.
Structural performance depends on the complete engineered system, including span, height, frame spacing, member grade and dimensions, connections, bracing and design loads.
Each building is designed around its intended use and site conditions. Depending on the project scope, the engineering can take account of building width, length and eaves height, site location, wind loading, snow loading, roof geometry, door openings, cladding specification, bracing requirements and the foundation interface.
Structural calculations, drawings and foundation reactions can be supplied where included within the agreed quotation and project specification.
Applicable structural steel components are manufactured under InClad’s certified Factory Production Control system to BS EN 1090-1. Manufacturing is carried out to approved drawings and documented procedures, with material identification, inspection and traceability forming part of the controlled process.
Applicable components are supplied with UKCA or CE conformity marking and supporting documentation as appropriate to the product and market.
The cladding specification is selected around the use of the building, required thermal performance and budget. InClad can provide single-skin and insulated roof and wall systems, with the final panel type, thickness, finish and colour confirmed within the quotation.
Doors, shutters, personnel access, gutters, flashings and other envelope details are specified separately to suit the project.
Buildings can be quoted on a supply-only or supply-and-fit basis. The quotation defines exactly what is included, including the frame, cladding, openings, doors, delivery, installation and any project-specific engineering or documentation.
Depending on the agreed project scope, documentation can include:
The exact documents supplied are confirmed within each project’s quotation and specification.
Do not compare steel buildings on steel thickness or section name alone. Ask each supplier for the actual structural specification, calculations, member sizes and grades, connection details, bracing arrangement, cladding build-up and scope of supply. Two buildings with the same external dimensions can have materially different structural and envelope specifications.
